Dr. Kevin Burchby
Dr. Kevin Burchby grew up in San Diego and received a degree in Computer Science from Amherst College in Massachusetts. After working for a financial software company for several years he switched careers into mental healthcare. He completed a Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) degree in Clinical Psychology at William James College outside of Boston, MA.
During his course work he developed clinical experience delivering individual and group therapy in university counseling, VA outpatient, public high school, and public hospital settings. His dissertation focused on the intersection of masculinity psychology and motivation for video game use in MMORPG players. He completed an APA accredited pre-doctoral internship at the Florida State University Counseling Center in 2017-18 and a post-doctoral residency at UC San Diego Counseling and Psychological Services from 2018-2019.
Outside of work, Dr. Burchby is an active member in the Unitarian Universalist Church. His therapy work is strongly influenced by the UU principles respecting the inherent worth and dignity of every person along with the value of many individual paths for spiritual practice and discovering truth and meaning.
Rates and Insurance
CA Residents: In-Network provider for Anthem Blue Cross, Cigna, and United Healthcare/Optum insurance plans. Through the Alma billing platform I can also accept Aetna insurance. Co-pays may vary by plan
MA Residents: Through the Alma platform I accept Aetna and Unite Healthcare/Optum insurance
Insurance coverage for other networks may be available as an Out of Network provider, please contact your insurance provider ahead of time to clarify reimbursement rates and procedures.
Direct Pay: $95-$195 for a 60 minute therapy session, based on income
Cancellation Policy: Appointments must be cancelled 24 hours before the scheduled appointment time or be subject to a $150 late cancellation/no-show fee
